Shukri Abdirahman is the Refugee Congress Delegate for Maine. She is a resettled refugee who came to the U.S. in 2009.

Shukri is a senior at the University of Maine at Farmington. She is double majoring in International Global Studies and Anthropology.

She has been an activist for more than 5 years and is committed to making sure resources are available to New Mainers in a culturally appropriate manner. As a former refugee, she understands the struggles and challenges new Mainers face.

In her free time, Shukri enjoys doing creative art and writing poetry. She also likes hiking and playing soccer.
