Tika Acharya and his family fled Bhutan in 1992, after seeking freedom from the oppressive regime in Bhutan. They lived as refugees in Nepal for 17 years before, he and his wife, parents, and grandmother were resettled to New Hampshire in 2009. He now lives in Manchester, New Hampshire with his wife and two sons, where he works as a small business owner. In 2010, he helped to found a nonprofit organization called the Bhutanese Community of New Hampshire, where he continues to serve as the Executive Director. The organization focuses on citizenship, employment, and social services, and works towards quality integration to generate productive contributors to the economy. Tika is most proud of contributing to his community by co-founding a vibrant and successful post-resettlement organization which serves over 250 diverse new American families throughout the state. He is also the Co-Chair for the Immigration Integration Initiative, and was the 2013 recipient of the 40 Under 40 Emerging Leaders of the State awarded by the Union Leader and Citizen’s Bank.
