Vijay Bhujel
Vijay Bhujel is the Refugee Congress Delegate for New Hampshire.
He is originally from Bhutan and spent 22 years in Jhapa Refugee Camp, Nepal, awaiting resettlement before coming to the U.S. in 2012.
Vijay has significant experience in the educational field. While in Jhapa Refugee Camp, he served as a general teacher for the cause of Refugee children in the camp from 1999 until 2006. In the US, he began working in his local school district as a substitute teacher. Eight Months after his arrival to US, he accepted the position of Bi-cultural Coordinator for the Services for Older Refugees from Bhutan. In 2016, he accepted another position as a Health Case Manager, and finally in 2021, he accepted a position of Resettlement and Integration Coordinator at Ascentria Care Alliance, Services for New Americans, where he thrives in his career today.
Vijay’s background in Human Services, combined with his personal experience as a refugee, inspires his commitment to advocating for equal human services for refugees, asylees, and immigrants, regardless of culture, language, age, education, status, gender, or sexual orientation/identity. Using his expertise as a Resettlement and Integration Coordinator, Vijay provides effective leadership to the case management team to ensure that clients get quality services, maintains good relationships between local partners, state, national agencies to deliver quality services to the clients, and helps refugees and immigrants navigate culturally appropriate services in the US.
In his free time, Vijay enjoys talking to friends and family, listening to music, watching movies, writing and listening to stories, deep thinking, and of course, go for a walk/hiking in the woods and the mountains.
