Program Assistant, National Refugee Leadership and Lived Experience Council (NRLLEC)
Halima Hamud is a storyteller and communications leader with over five years of experience in digital strategy, community engagement, and program support.
She currently serves as Program Assistant for the National Refugee Leadership and Lived Experience Council (NRLLEC) program at Refugee Congress, where she leads and coordinates council-member engagement, capacity-building trainings, and communications and outreach initiatives.
Prior to joining Refugee Congress, Halima worked with the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, where she supported emerging leaders from sub-Saharan Africa in advancing their leadership skills and professional development. From 2023- 2024, she served as Refugee Congress Minnesota Lead Delegate, advocating for refugees and immigrants in Minnesota. She holds a Master’s degree in Development Practice from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Beyond her professional work, Halima enjoys hiking, reading fiction thrillers, and running her Somali tea business, Clove Me Crazy.
