Who can join the Collective?

Membership for the Refugee Storytellers Collective is open to any refugees, former refugees, asylum seekers, asylees or other forcibly displaced people based in the United States. There are no further requirements and no dues. Those who want to join the Collective are encouraged to share their perspectives publicly in a variety of ways, including in media interviews, op-eds, videos, podcasts, public speaking events, artistry, and more.

How do I become a member of the Collective?

If you would like to become a member of the Collective, complete this form. After applying, our team conducts a short intake interview with new members to get to know them, and their interests and goals.

What is the time commitment for being a member of the Collective?

Collective members join on a volunteer basis and can participate in as many or as few activities as they like. Collective members also choose how they share their story and which platforms they are interested in (such as media interviews, public speaking engagements, social media posts, and more).

What are the benefits of joining the Refugee Storytellers Collective?

The Refugee Storytellers Collective is a growing community that offers experienced and aspiring storytellers the opportunity to share their perspectives, connect with others with similar lived experiences, and participate in a series of trainings on a variety of topics including public speaking, media relations, and more.

Can individuals outside of the United States be a part of the Collective?

We are currently working only with individuals based in the United States.
