Omar Aziz

Dr. Omar Aziz is Deputy Director of Programs at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Atlanta, bringing more than 16 years of experience in humanitarian health and resettlement work, including personal experience navigating displacement and resettlement. He leads health, emergency and resettlement programming for refugees and other crisis-affected populations. In September 2026, he was appointed to the US Refugee Advisory Board (USRAB). He also serves as a board member of Georgia State University's Prevention Research Center.

Over more than a decade at IRC, Dr. Aziz built the organization's multi-county public health emergency response, developed the nationally recognized Home Health Visit Program for Afghan evacuees, and expanded trauma-informed mental health programming. He is a 2025 recipient of ABCT's Champions of Evidence-Based Psychological Interventions Award. He is committed to advancing equitable, culturally responsive health systems for displaced and underserved communities.
