Nicole Tshibangu
Nicole Tshibangu is from the Democratic Republic of Congo and lived in Windhoek, Namibia for nine years with her family working as a preschool teacher before resettling in the U.S. Helping people has always been her passion. When she arrived in the U.S. in 2013, she got involved with Kentucky Refugee Ministries, volunteering to help with the children’s choir, interpreting for newly arrived refugees, and speaking at different venues and events in churches, universities, and other groups to bring awareness of the struggles and resilience of refugees. Soon after, she began working at the Kentucky Refugee Ministries and has served in a variety of roles over the past nine years.
She is currently a Family Case Worker, working closely with families, connecting them with resources outside the agency for their self-sufficiency, and advocating for them at different levels. She is also working toward a bachelor’s degree in social work. Her passion is to see refugees and immigrants fully integrated and successful in their new environment.
