Communications Manager

Sheridan Block is the Communications Manager for Refugee Congress, coordinating all internal and external communications that demonstrate the mission, impact, and influence of Refugee Congress and its Delegates. She also supports strategic communications at the Refugee Advocacy Lab, co-leads the Refugee Storytellers Collective, and co-chairs Refugee Council USA’s Communications Committee.

Before joining Refugee Congress, she supported various nonprofits and missions around the world with communications efforts, including website development, social media management, fundraising and community building, and outreach efforts. She received her bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from the University of Central Florida, and has received awards for her reporting with the Ouray County Plaindealer in Colorado.

A firm believer in the power of storytelling, she aims to help shape narratives that appropriately amplify the lived experiences of refugees, asylum seekers, and forcibly displaced people, and ensure that individuals with lived experience have the resources and platforms needed to share their perspectives and expertises in ways that drive change.

On weekends when she is not enjoying her rent, Sheridan romps around waterfalls in Western North Carolina with her husband and puppy, trying new foods, and catching up on laundry.
