Ali Aljundi
Ali Aljundi serves as the Director of Programs for Refugee Congress, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to refugee advocacy and leadership development. Since joining Refugee Congress in May 2022 as the Membership Engagement and Leadership Development Manager, Ali has been instrumental
in driving membership growth and creating leadership opportunities for Refugee Congress Delegates and partners.
A passionate refugee advocate and civil activist from Syria, Ali brings over a decade of experience addressing humanitarian and immigration challenges. Before joining Refugee Congress, he spent eight years as a Policy and Diaspora Engagement Advisor at Oxfam America, where he played a key role in the organization’s advocacy efforts related to global humanitarian crises, immigration, and refugee issues in the United States.
Before leaving Syria in 2012, Ali held prominent roles in organizations focused on empowerment and development. As a Senior Career Development Coordinator at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), he worked to enhance the capacities of Palestinian refugees in Syria. Earlier, as a Marketing Development Officer at the Aga Khan Foundation, he advanced rural development and women’s empowerment initiatives. Ali also has extensive private-sector experience, having spent 10 years in Syria’s textile industry.
Ali holds a master’s degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University in Massachusetts and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Damascus University in Syria.
